The Great British Spring Clean
Residents are being encouraged to help clean up streets and open spaces in Welwyn Hatfield as part of this year's Great British Spring Clean.
Running from 22 March - 23 April, and organised by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, the campaign brings together individuals, community groups, businesses and councils with the aim of seeing up to half a million people helping to spruce up areas across the country.
Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is inviting residents to take part, either by organising their own litter pick or joining one near them, and can provide litter picking kits and recycling and refuse bags for collection.
Councillor Stephen Boulton, Executive Member for Planning and Environment, said:
We're encouraging as many people as possible to take part in this national event, to help clean up streets and open spaces.
There will be many opportunities to take part in organised litter picks throughout the four weeks, and for anyone who would like to organise their own, please contact the council so that we can loan litter picking kits and arrange for any refuse and recycling bags to be collected once they are full.
We hope to see many residents and groups taking part in The Great British Spring Clean, helping to make the places where we live and work look that little bit nicer.
To request a litter picking kit and get involved, please contact the council on 01707 357000 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
