Free men's weight management course returns to Welwyn Hatfield
Welwyn Hatfield men can 'Shape Up' in the New Year, thanks to a free programme run by Watford Football Club's Community Trust in partnership with Herts County Council, Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council and the Premier League.
The 12-week Shape Up course will be available to men aged 18-65 in Hertfordshire with a BMI of 30 or higher.
The first session starts at 7.30pm on Monday 6 January at the Jim McDonald Centre in Hatfield, and will run for the following 11 Monday nights after that.
The 90-minute sessions begin with 30 minutes of education, followed by a 60 minute full body workout which includes team games, with the aim of empowering men to make long term positive changes to their lifestyle.
Nick Long, Corporate Director at WHBC, said:
Obesity is a national problem, and the Shape Up course has been designed to educate men on how to make changes to their lifestyle as part of a sociable and supportive group.
The programme engages attendees in a fun and effective way through group exercise and sport, and will improve fitness levels and help aid weight loss.
Rhys Ratcliffe, Shape Up Co-ordinator, said:
Shape Up has educated more than 1,700 men about sustainable exercise and nutrition over the last four years, and together our participants have lost more than 7 tons in weight. That's more than 15,000 lbs. Come and see what you have to lose!
