Welwyn Garden's Christmas Panto Nominated for National Award

Move over the BAFTAs, the Golden Globes and the Oscars, it's time to roll out the red carpet for last year's Campus West production of Snow White.

Directed by Jonas Cemm, the sell-out panto has been nominated for Best Script in the prestigious 2020 Great British Pantomime Awards.

Brad Fitt's hilarious script is up against pantos from across the UK, including James Barry for Dick Whittington at Theatre Royal Winchester, Lyndsay Maples for Cinderella at Courtyard, Hereford and Richard Gauntlett for Cinderella at Norwich Theatre Royal.

Now in their fourth year, The Great British Pantomime Awards are the nationally recognised awards which celebrate the best of this British theatrical institution.

Commenting on the nomination, Councillor Terry Mitchinson, the council's Executive Member for Leisure, Culture and Communications, said,

It's a real honour to be shortlisted for these awards. The talented Campus West panto team has been delighting audiences over the years with their hilarious blend of hit songs and silliness. Snow White was a huge hit, smashing box office records, so it's great to see it being recognised in the panto Hall of Fame.

Tickets are now on sale for this year's Campus West pantomimes: Jack and the Beanstalk and adults-only version, Jack - Stalk Dirty. For further information and to book tickets go to www.campuswest.co.uk .

The 2020 Great British Pantomime awards take place on 26 April at the Shaw Theatre, London.
