Night time vegetation work on A1(M) - News from Highways England
Vegetation clearance currently is taking place between Junctions 6 and 8 on the A1(M).
This work started on 16 March and is scheduled to be complete by 20 April 2020. However, this may be subject to change, given the current situation with COVID-19. Highways England is following Government and Public Health England advice.
To protect its workers and keep motorists safe, Highways England will use some lane closures on the A1(M) on both the northbound and southbound carriageways overnight between 8pm and 6am.
With this in mind, it's recommended that if you need to use the A1(M) during these times, you allow a little more time for your journey. This work is being done at night time to limit the impact on motorists and residents. However, there may need to be some changes to the timetable of work or additional days with A1(M) lane closures, in the event of adverse weather or other unforeseen events.
Vegetation clearance uses equipment such as chainsaws and some large machinery. There may therefore be some noise. Highways England apologises for any inconvenience this may cause, and would like to reassure residents that the team is working hard to keep the noise and disruption to a minimum, and hopes to complete the work as quickly as possible.
