Restrictions lifted in council car parks

Restrictions lifted in car parks and resident permit areas.

Hunters Bridge

We announced some changes to parking last week with a lifting of restrictions on resident permit/voucher schemes and single yellow lines. For those of you in these permit zones, we'll be automatically extending all your permits once the extent of the situation is known. From tomorrow, we're also introducing free parking for everyone in all of our car parks.

However, to ensure that we protect road users, vulnerable residents and those providing essential services, we'll continue to enforce double yellow lines, obstructive or dangerous parking, disabled parking bays, loading bays and time-limited parking bays in on-street parking.  You'll therefore continue to see our parking enforcement officers out and about, so please treat them with respect.  We're sad to say that we've had reports of abuse to these staff. It's not right and won't be tolerated when their job is to keep you safe while following social distancing guidelines.

We'll be closely monitoring these temporary new arrangements and may need to make further changes at short notice, which may include resuming normal enforcement in the interests of keeping you all safe and responding to the evolving situation.
