Everything from arts to dance and sports are expected to take place in the borough's parks, open spaces and town squares during August, with safety measures a priority across every event. Picnics, outdoor fitness and graffiti art are already confirmed!

If you are a local organisation, sports club or community group and have an event or activity taking place between 1 to 23 August that you'd like to be part of BIG Summer, please complete the activity form on Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council's website at one.welhat.gov.uk/bigsummer.

Everyone wishing to put on BIG Summer events must provide a full risk assessment with their activity form, including the procedures they are going to follow to ensure the event or activity complies with government guidance.

All activity forms should be returned to play@welhat.gov.uk by Friday 24 July to be added to the Big Summer calendar.

Councillor Terry Mitchinson, Executive Member for Leisure, Culture and Communications, said: "After months of lockdown and residents unable to access everyday leisure activities, I'm really pleased that as restrictions ease, we can now provide something for our communities to look forward to in August!

"I really want to reassure residents though that going hand in hand with our plans for a festival packed with outdoor activities is a commitment that we will be strictly following government guidelines to ensure everyone has a great time while feeling completely safe."
