The art of competition!

Are you a budding young artist or a photographer in the making? To celebrate the return of 'This Girl Can' week in Welwyn Hatfield, which is taking place between 14-20 June, the council will be running an art and photography competition for young people, with the chance to win a £50 Love2Shop voucher!

The competition theme is sport: why you enjoy playing and why it's good to be active. You can submit either a poem, a drawing or a photograph that reflects the theme.

The competition is open to youngsters who either live or go to school in the borough and there are two age categories: 0-11 years and 12-16 years. The closing date for entries is 5pm on Friday 4 June.

Milan Johnston, Sports Partnership Officer at Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, said:

Last year's competition, organised by our Youth Council, on the theme of 'environment' really resonated with our young people, as the natural world became such a focus of our lockdown landscape."

With the restrictions on team sports - alongside many other activities - now lifting, we're hoping to see the same reaction to this year's competition. Youngsters can start seeing their friends and team mates again, and rekindle their passion for sports. We'd love for as many young people as possible to enter!

The entry form can be found at https://one.welhat.gov.uk/ThisGirlCan/competition.

The Youth Council is made up of students aged 11 to 19 who want to make a positive difference to Welwyn Hatfield, their peers and the wider community.
