Lighting the way to a more sustainable future
New grants of up to £5,000 are now available to help Welwyn Hatfield businesses fund the costs of energy saving measures.
As part of the Eastern New Energy (ENE) project, the council will visit businesses to carry out a free audit and identify key energy efficiency improvement opportunities. Where the report recommends changing lighting to LEDs, the council will pay for the upgrade.
The initiative is funded by the council's climate change budget.
Advanced car care specialist, AX Welwyn, is the first business in the borough to make the switch to LED lighting through the scheme.
Tim Ryan, Director at AX Welwyn, said:
Good lighting is important for our business growth - we can't make cars look their best without it! Our workshop is so much brighter since we've made the switch and we'll save on our energy bills. Added to the environmental benefits, it's a win win for us.
Cllr Fiona Thomson, Executive Member for Climate Change, said:
The ENE project provides businesses with practical, on the ground solutions to tackling climate change. It makes it easy for businesses to understand where they can make improvements, but, crucially, how those changes can drive efficiency and growth. We expect demand to be high so don't delay in registering your interest!
