Applications open for new Covid-19 Relief Community Grant
Local charities and voluntary groups which have supported the community during the Covid-19 could benefit from a new grant aimed at easing the financial impact of the pandemic on these organisations.
Applications are now open for the Covid-19 Relief Community Grant for retrospective funding of up to £10,000 for projects that are already running within Welwyn Hatfield.
Examples of what can be funded include:
- Rent and rates
- IT and subscriptions
- Covid-19 compliance
The grant, administered by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, is open to local charity, voluntary, community and not-for-profit organisations where at least half of their members or service users live or work in the borough.
The closing date for applications and all supporting documents to be submitted online is 22 August. The Grants Board will review the applications in September.
Cllr Fiona Thomson, Executive Member, Housing and Climate Change, said:
Voluntary and community organisations in the borough have worked tremendously hard and under very challenging circumstances to help support vulnerable residents through the pandemic.
Many of these organisations may, themselves, now be struggling to provide these vital services due to the financial impact of Covid-19. The Covid Relief Grant can help assist with the additional expenses ongoing projects may be incurring due to the pandemic.
Information about the grant and how to apply can be found on the council's website.
