There's a BIG Summer in store for the borough!

A BIG Summer of fun has kicked off across Welwyn Hatfield with events and activities for toddlers, teens and everyone in between.

There is everything from sports to arts and crafts taking place as part of the council's BIG Summer which runs until 14 August. Many of the activities are free. Find out what's happening at


Some of the exciting activities taking place over the next few weeks include:

  • Xplorer, taking place on 27 July, 3, 10, 17 August at various locations across the borough. This is a fun navigation challenge for the whole family. Primary school children get to explore their surroundings to locate a series of markers. At each marker, children need to identify what is pictured and learn a fun fact to tell their friends. Free to attend.
  • Storytime,taking place on 1 and 8 August at Welwyn Garden City Library. Join in with a mix of picture books, stories and rhymes at WGC Library. Discover lots of new stories as well as old favourites like The Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Gruffalo. Choose your own books to borrow and read them at home! No booking needed - just turn up!
  • BMX Pump Traxx, on 11 August at King George V Playing Fields. Bring your bikes and helmets to have a go.
  • Family fun sports day, 14 August at Birchwood. Day of fun for all the family with bouncy castles, inflatable obstacle course, games and much more. See our BIG Summer webpage for details.
