Kids enjoy HAPpy holidays at the Hive
Local youngsters are enjoying a HAPpy summertime of fun at The Hive community centre in south Hatfield as part of Hertfordshire's holiday programme.
The HAPpy Holiday Camps scheme, run by Hertfordshire County Council in conjunction with the Herts Sports Partnership and the Hertfordshire Community Foundation, is aimed at countering the triple inequalities facing the county's most disadvantaged young people - holiday hunger, physical inactivity and social isolation.
All 480 spaces at the Hive were filled within days of booking opening. The popular council-run community centre is running the camps throughout August. Activities on offer include Wacky Science, Nature Craft and multi-sports. A free, healthy lunch is also provided.
Cllr Terry Mitchinson, Executive Member for Leisure and Community, said:
We're delighted to have been part of this fantastic initiative providing fun activities and a healthy meal to many of our young people who may otherwise have struggled to access these during the summer break.
HAPpy camps are being held across the county and are available for school aged children who receive benefits-related free school meals. For more information visit https://sportinherts.org.uk/happy/
