Half term activities in Welwyn Hatfield

Children will be spoilt for choice this autumn half term, with plenty of activities going on in Welwyn Hatfield!

Kids dressed up in fancy dress for halloween

On Tuesday 25 October 1.30 - 3.30pm, at Welwyn Roman Baths, kids and parents can drop in - to join the Roman Army! Shield-making, trying on a helmet for size and practising fun foam javelin throwing is all part of the fun-packed afternoon, the £5 entry fee includes admission to the Bath House. The Roman Baths are also open every weekday afternoon 1-4pm during half term and on Saturday 10am - 4pm. Find full details online

Following the special Black History Month free community event and exhibition on Wednesday 26 October, (11am-2pm), Thursday sees Mill Green Museum and Mill host a 'Hedgehogs at the Mill' activity. This includes baking a hedgehog bread roll made with dough using flour from the mill, along with a hedgehog story, hedgehog themed crafts and of course a chance to see the mill and museum. It costs £5 per child, and with limited spaces, pre-booking is recommended via the website. The Mill and Museum is also open for general admission as usual from Thursday to Sunday 10am-5pm.

Events will be taking a spooky turn with a ghoulishly good Halloween Party on Friday October 28 October, 1pm - 3pm, at The Hive! Fiendish fun and games, plus Bouncy Castle fun can be had for £5 per child. Booking is advised for all little devils! Please call The Hive on 01707 270066.

And for a different kind of entertainment, Campus West is putting on extra skating sessions from Wednesday through to Friday of half term, 12.30pm and 2.15pm.  Younger children can bounce into Soft Play City, open from 9.30am to 4pm every day, and older kids can sit back and enjoy a cinematic experience with one of the fun family films on offer. These include:

·        Lyle, Lyle Crocodile

·        Black Adam

·        ET

-        not to mention Zebra Family Film Club exclusives at £3.99 per ticket! Visit the Campus West website for details.

And a special Halloween Xplorer family challenge will be on at Stanborough Park, Welwyn Garden City from Saturday 22 October right through to Halloween itself on Monday 31 October. Maps can be collected from the Splashlands Kiosk.

Councillor Terry Mitchinson, Executive Member, Leisure and Community, said:

There is something to keep all ages amused this half term, as well as some spooktacular fun! Children are encouraged to dress up for the Halloween Party at The Hive - and do book these activities in advance to avoid disappointment!
