Winners of the borough's highest accolade are presented with a cheque for £250 as well as personalised trophy and certificate. The recipients' achievements are also recorded in an official Civic Awards book.

There are two additional categories - the Community Award, sponsored by Urbaser, and the Young Person's Award for those under the age of 21, sponsored by the University of Hertfordshire.

The deadline for all nominations is Monday 30 January 2023.

Up to five winners will be selected by a judging panel chaired by the Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield, Councillor Barbara Fitzsimon. The awards will be presented at a special ceremony during the Annual Council Meeting in May.

The Mayor, Cllr Fitzsimon, said:

These awards are a great way for us to show our appreciation of those people all different ages who have worked so hard in achieving their goal in education or sport, or have done amazing things for their community. Please do get nominating so that we can shine a light on some of Welwyn Hatfield's unsung heroes.

Nomination forms can be completed online, by email contact-whc@welhat.gov.uk or call 01707 357000 for assistance.
