Residents are invited to network with local businesses
Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, in conjunction with the LEP, has organised an exciting careers fair that will highlight different job sectors and opportunities open to residents and young people in Welwyn Hatfield.
The event is taking place from 9am to 5pm on Friday 24 February 2023, at the Fielder Centre Hatfield, Hatfield Business Park, Hatfield Ave, Hatfield AL10 9TP.
From 9am-3.30pm, over 500 year 11 students from local schools will have the opportunity to network with over 40 local businesses. They will be able to find out about roles and opportunities with brands and organisations including TK Max, Sky Movies, Barclays, and the Royal Air Force.
For the twilight session, from 3.30-5pm, residents, including students from any year group and their parents or carers, are also invited to come along and find out more about opportunities with these employers and more. Places can be booked for this part of the day.
The overall aims of the event are:
· Helping residents and young people gain meaningful encounters with employers
· Teaching young people about a variety of local jobs and industries
· Educating students about the varied routes into work
· Enabling teachers and school staff to interact and network with employers
Leader of the council, Cllr Tony Kingsbury, said: "This is a great opportunity to provide everyone, from residents to young people with the chance to meet with regional employers showcasing a diverse range of jobs, apprenticeships, and training opportunities.
"The council is committed to doing all we can to facilitate local employment opportunities and we look forward to more events like this in 2023."
This careers fair has received £10,000 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
