Activities galore for This Girl Can week
Women and girls can take part in free sport and exercise taster sessions next week as This Girl Can returns to Welwyn Hatfield.
Set to be bigger and better than ever, the week-long event runs from 17-23 June and includes everything from weightlifting to bowls.
The campaign aims to increase female participation in sport and exercise, encouraging women to try something new or rekindle their enthusiasm for a former hobby.
Past research has shown that from the 59,000 female population in Welwyn Hatfield, over 50% have no involvement in sport or physical activity.
Partners include the Welwyn Hatfield Volleyball Club, Back 2 Netball, Warrioz Street Dance and Ladies Breeze Cycling.
Milan Johnston, Sports Partnership Officer at Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, says:
Our partners will be offering relaxed, fun sessions throughout the week for all abilities. We know it can feel intimidating to turn up somewhere new where you don't know people, and these sessions will be welcoming and friendly, hopefully showing everyone that exercise is fun - not a chore to be endured!
I'm really looking forward to meeting people at the sessions and inspiring more women in the borough to feel healthier, happier and fitter!
Some activities are required to be booked in advance. The activity calendar is available at: https://one.welhat.gov.uk/thisgirlcan
