Come and 'Have a Go' in Hatfield town centre

As part of the week-long 70th anniversary celebrations of the first flight of the Comet, there will be a whole day dedicated to sporting activities in Hatfield on Thursday 25 July.

Have a Go Day

Have a Go Day runs from 11am-4pm in Market Place, and activities include skateboarding tuition, football penalty shootout, a 3v3 football cage, sumo wrestling, garden games and much more.

The event will also launch the Your Town run around AL10, which is a 1km loop, beginning at 12.30pm. Participants can see how many times they can round around town in an hour, or take a leisurely stroll with their friends and family. Registration is from 11.30am in Market Place, and the warm up is being put on by Energie Fitness, and will take place 15 minutes before the run begins. To sign up, visit

Councillor Terry Mitchinson, Executive Member for Leisure, Culture and Communications, said:

This event is part of World Hatfield Festival, which is led by Hatfield Town Council and includes various partners and community groups who have worked together to present a week celebrating Hatfield's heritage, including the 70th anniversary of the first flight of the Comet.

I would encourage everyone to come and Have a Go on Thursday, with so many sporting activities on offer there is something for all of your friends and family to enjoy.
