Mayor raises Commonwealth flag

The Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield, Councillor Roger Trigg, today raised the Commonwealth flag at the council's offices in Welwyn Garden City to mark Commonwealth Day 2020.

Commonwealth Flag Raising

The ceremony began at 10.30am outside the Council Chamber at the council offices, Campus East where Councillor Trigg read the Commonwealth Affirmation.

The theme for Commonwealth Day 2020 is: 'Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming'. The theme was chosen because the governments and people of the diverse family of 54 Commonwealth countries connect at many levels through extensive and deep-rooted networks of friendship and goodwill.

Mayor, Councillor Roger Trigg, said:

We are really proud to take part in this celebration that takes place in countries across the world. The raising of the Commonwealth flag shows our appreciation for the Commonwealth and its values of diversity and inclusiveness.
