Youth and community grant applications open
Applications are open for the Welwyn Hatfield Small Community Grants as well as a new Youth Action Grant which is specifically for community and charity organisations working with young people in the borough.
Both grants offer eligible local organisations funding of between £500 and £2,000.
New this year, the Welwyn Hatfield Youth Action Grant is aimed at projects from a range of sectors including music, dance, drama, sport and health that benefit local young people aged between eight and 18 years old.
Small Community Grants are available to charities and community groups to fund projects which improve the lives of Welwyn Hatfield residents. Eligibility for the Small Community Grants has been extended to support organisations that have a positive impact on the local community but have incurred costs or have not been able to operate, due to COVID-19.
Councillor Duncan Bell, Executive Member for Resources said: "Local voluntary and community groups in the borough have been working hard in extremely difficult circumstances to make a positive contribution to the lives of residents so I'm delighted we're able to offer this funding.
"The addition of the Youth Action Grant will help to provide further opportunities and support for our young people to fulfil their potential."
Kerry Newell, director of FK Dance Academy which used their Small Community Grant to put on workshops, said: "I would highly recommend applying. Our grant gave the youth of Welwyn and Hatfield the opportunity to work with professionals from TV and theatre. It was great to see what they accomplished, to inspire them and let them know that anything is achievable if you work hard for it."
