Vote in the local elections today!

It's election day (5 May) and we're encouraging all residents in Welwyn Hatfield to use their voice and vote!

Polling stations will be open from 7am - 10pm for people to vote in person. You can find your polling station on your poll card or online. You must be 18 years old to be able to vote.

Don't worry if you've lost your poll card, you will still be able to vote. Just give your name and address to the staff inside the polling station when you arrive.

5 reasons why you should vote in the local elections:

  • Councillors decide how the Council Tax you pay is spent - Councillors decide how much council tax you pay and make local decisions on how that is spent.

  • Councillors make decisions that will impact your everyday life - from bins to parking to green spaces, important decisions are made that can affect you daily.

  • Councillors plan for the future development of where you live - councils fundamentally shape your local area. From deciding where new housing and infrastructure gets built to how green spaces are maintained; decisions councillors make today will impact what your community looks and feels like for years to come.

  • You can chat to your local councillor - you are voting for the person you can turn to for help when you need it. It is a councillor's job to hear your concerns and represent your views.

  • You have the right to vote - local elections have important consequences for you and your family. Your vote matters - don't lose it.
