Community grants extended to Covid-19 impacted projects
Community and voluntary organisations that have been financially impacted by COVID-19 can now apply for a Welwyn Hatfield community grant of up to £2,000.
The Welwyn Hatfield Small Community Grant, which funds projects from a range of sectors including music, dance, drama, sport, youth and health, is extending financial support to those organisations that have a positive impact on the local community but have incurred costs or have not been able to operate, due to COVID-19.
The additional grants can be used for a variety of purposes, including:
· payment towards facilities that aren't currently being used
· upfront costs for the hire of facilities eg. training/rehearsal space or for events that have had to be cancelled
· organisations supporting the community with food delivery services, prescription drop offs and online/phone support
· organisations working with vulnerable families or vulnerable adults
Councillor Duncan Bell, Executive Member for Resources, said:
Local groups and voluntary organisations across the borough have worked tirelessly to support some of the most vulnerable members of the local community during COVID-19. Plans have had to be put on hold, venues closed and events cancelled, leaving many in financial difficulty. These organisations make such a positive contribution to our communities and we want to support them wherever we can.
Small Community Grants are awarded twice a year, in February and July. To apply, complete the application form at www.welhat.gov.uk/communitygrants and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org along with relevant supporting documents.
