Small Community Grants

Applications for the Welwyn Hatfield Small Community Grant funding 2019/20 are now open!

Small grants

The Welwyn Hatfield Small Community Grant is available twice a year to community and voluntary organisations from a range of sectors including music, dance, drama, sport, youth, health and many more. This funding is for projects that make a positive impact on the Welwyn Hatfield community and the maximum amount awarded is £2,000.

The Annual Community Grant funding is larger in scale and to help local organisations with core running costs or projects that make a positive impact on or difference to the local community. The maximum amount of funding available for an organisation or group is £20,000. Applications for Annual Community Grants are considered annually, in October.

Application forms for both the Small Community Grant and the Annual Grant are available here and should be emailed to grant@welhat.gov.uk. Small Community Grant applications need to be sent by 30 June 2019 to be considered in the July board meeting.

Below are some of the comments from previous Small Community Grant recipients...

The generous donation of £1,000 from Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council in May 2018 aided Revitalise in providing essential respite breaks to disabled people and carers from the Welwyn Hatfield Community. The vital donation directly funded three breaks for residents of Welwyn, whilst indirectly contributing to many more. Our guests benefitted from improved wellbeing, rejuvenated relationships, and the alleviation of the daily challenges that living with a disability and caring for a loved one can bring. From all of us at Revitalise, thank you again for your warmly appreciated support over the years. We wouldn't be able to do what we do without organisations like Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.

Many thanks for the Welwyn Hatfield Community Grant 2018-19. We have put it to good use and organised some great initiative over the last year. It has been a huge success. We have had a lot of interest and have got lots of local people involved. We hope to build on what we have learnt and achieved and to continue to grow our club for the benefit of all.

The community grant funding has enabled Foodbank to provide approx 2000 items of food to those in need across WGC & Hatfield. Each week many people in desperate situations attend Foodbank and the food provided is such a help in their time of difficulty.
