A new purpose-built leisure facility in the north side of Stanborough Park.
The wait is finally over. Splashlands is opening on Thursday 30 July 2020.
Ready on time and on budget, the £2.2 million project features a paddling river meandering through a 600m² splashpad water play area. It is surrounded by a nautical themed adventure playground with a large pirate ship and a variety of play equipment for children of all ages,
The splash pad has 67 jets split into toddler and kid zones which shoot up to 1.5m in the air with pads that activate water sprays when they are jumped on.
An outdoor gym and sports pitch provides teenagers and adults with a range of new health and fitness activity options.
The toilet block has been refurbished and a new kiosk enhances existing facilities, with the current play area having been replaced with an assortment of seating, shade and picnic spaces, more in keeping with a riverside environment.
Entrance to Splashlands is free and it will be open daily from 10.00am to 6.00pm, or dusk if earlier. The operator, GLL, has put a booking system in place, however non-bookable spaces are still available for visitors turning up on the day.
Weather permitting, the splashpad will open each year, from Good Friday through to the last Sunday in September. The outdoor gym and sports pitch will be open all year round.
