Why film here?
Welwyn Hatfield offers a wide range of filming opportunities for students and production companies alike, from the historical Hatfield to leafy Welwyn Garden City and the attractive outlying villages.
We are a member of Creative England's Film Friendly Partnership network, welcoming filming to the borough and ensuring cooperation and commitment to welcome filmmakers.
In 2012 and 2013 The World's End, staring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, was filmed extensively in Welwyn Garden City, and Hatfield was used for a scene, also filmed in 2012, in the blockbuster Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, directed by Kenneth Branagh.
Other productions which have been shot in the borough include TV series The Fades, an advert for More Than insurance and one for The Sun newspaper.
