The Group Leaders of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council are calling for more investment in the borough’s bus network to improve services.

They have written to Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) to express their utmost concern that the Welwyn Hatfield bus network has not been prioritised for funding in HCC’s latest Bus Improvement Plan.

Councillor Paul Zukowskyj, Leader of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council and Executive Member, Climate Change, said:

Many of our residents rely on the local buses to get to work, school, medical or social appointments.  They have been let down by both the reduction and unreliability in services.  We are seeking a commitment from HCC that Welwyn Hatfield will benefit from future funding, particularly as the borough is sited in the core of Hertfordshire and is crucial to enhancing connectivity with towns and villages in the County.

The letter was signed by Cllr Zukowskyj as Leader of the Liberal Democrats Group, Cllr Lynn Chesterman OBE, Leader of the Labour Group and Cllr Tony Kingsbury, Leader of the Conservative Group.

The letter is available to read online.
