A new vision for the new year in Welwyn Hatfield
Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council has a new vision for 2024 to 2026.
Following feedback from the Community Survey launched last summer, Full Council agreed that the Council’s new vision will be putting the ‘Community at our Heart’, with five key priorities for the next three years:
Homes to be proud of; with a commitment to creating a sense of pride and satisfaction in the quality of homes and living experience in the Borough, as well as constructing new social and affordable housing and advocating high-quality homes for everyone.
Enable an economy that delivers for everyone; through championing local businesses, supporting vibrant town centres, facilitating access to amenities in neighbourhood centres and promoting economic growth in rural areas.
Action on Climate Change; including reaffirming the Council’s commitment to being Net Zero by 2030 and setting an example to others.
Run an effective Council; through smart financial decisions, being transparent and building positive reputations both locally and with external partners.
Together, create opportunities for our communities; increasing collaboration within the community by fostering pride, celebrating diversity and inclusion through a variety of activities and events, and collectively working towards a safer living environment.
Full Council will now consider the Council’s Business Plan for 2024-25 later this month, which will set out the Council’s key projects and performance indicators that will contribute to the delivery of the new priorities.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Paul Zukowskyj said:
“Our new vision and key priorities have emerged from consulting our communities and the aspects you asked us to focus on. Our Joint Administration has been delivering better for our communities since last May. I know that, with our new vision, key priorities and business plan, we will deliver ever more effective services and support for our residents and businesses across the Borough.”
Deputy Leader of the Council, Cllr Lynn Chesterman OBE added: “By putting our Community at our Heart, we will make sure that they remain at the core of everything that we do. I know that the cost of living crisis is continuing to impact all of us but as we start 2024, I am determined to work with my colleagues in the Joint Administration to deliver a brighter future for everyone in our community.“
