This Valentine's Week marks a milestone in the journey towards sustainability for businesses in the borough, as Wenta and Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council join hands in their partnership, Action Zero.

Action Zero is a collaborative initiative aimed at empowering businesses in the borough to embrace sustainable practices and reduce their environmental impact. This partnership combines the expertise of Wenta, a leading provider of business support services, with the commitment of the council to drive environmental sustainability within the local business community.

Leader of the council and Executive Member for Climate Change, Cllr Paul Zukowskyj expressed enthusiasm for the partnership stating “Action on climate change is one of our priorities and we are proud to have launched the FREE Welwyn Hatfield Action Zero Gold programme. Hearing the testimonials from local businesses, it is clear the programme is having a positive impact already.”

The Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield, Councillor Pankit Shah, said “This initiative gives free resources, bespoke guidance and skills training support and we encourage local businesses to get in touch with Wenta for more information.”

Andrea Boughton, Creative Director, Beehive Green said

In 2022, I put my stake in the ground to declare I put people and planet before profit. This guiding principle shapes my business and positively contributes to the world around me. I enjoy working with brands that want to make a difference, including non-profits, charities and SMEs. Now, in 2024 I am continuing my journey with the Action Zero programme and look forward to completing my carbon footprint in due course.

Andrea is finding the programme to be informative, and easy to access, commenting that Wenta's Action Zero team delivering the service are super helpful.

Michael Martin, Head of Net Zero and Business Advice Team at Wenta, said

It’s not just about putting people through the carbon footprint, or even completing an action plan, it’s about a sustainability journey, measuring next year to show a reduction/demonstrating decarbonisation in the area – this is what the partnership of Wenta and Welwyn Hatfield are ultimately working towards.
