Feedback wanted on draft designs for planned improvements to Market Place, Hatfield

Market place hatfield

Exciting designs have been developed by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council (WHBC) for the regeneration of the public space in Market Place, Hatfield.

Residents, local businesses and visitors will have an opportunity to view the initial designs and give their feedback at special drop-in events on Friday 23 February and Saturday 24 February, 10am to 4pm in The Hub, Hatfield Town Centre. The hub can be found on the main route between Asda and White Lion Square.

The new public space will provide a welcoming and inclusive space for families and people of all ages to come together to relax, play and enjoy quality time in the heart of the Town Centre. This will also support local businesses by encouraging more visitors and longer visits.

Councillor Jane Quinton, Executive Member, Planning, said:

The relocation of the Hatfield General Market presented an opportunity for the development of the new public space, with a focus on families, which I am sure will be a wonderful addition to the Town Centre.

The Council would like to hear the thoughts and opinions of as many people as possible on the designs for the new space. I would encourage residents and local businesses to pop into one of the drop-in sessions and have their say on the new proposals.

The development is part of the wider Hatfield 2030+ regeneration programme which aims to encourage more people to visit the town and make it an attractive place for people to enjoy. It builds on previous projects including the regeneration of White Lion Square and One Town Centre and is being delivered using funding secured through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
