WHBC is pleased to announce that the new Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield, Councillor Frank Marsh, has chosen Herts Young Homeless (HYH) as his charity to support during his term of office.

Herts Young Homeless work with 16-24 year olds who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness and those aged 10-15 whose families are at risk of relationship breakdown. They also work with those aged 18+, including care experienced young people and those with mental health and substance misuse challenges, with housing and support needs. Their services empower young people to be able to deal with difficult situations in their lives, giving them the ability and confidence to 'do it themselves' and ultimately find stability.

Councillor Marsh said:

"I am delighted to support Herts Young Homeless, a charity that provides essential services to young people facing homelessness. In a time when the cost of living is rising and many families are struggling, the work that HYH does is more important than ever. I am committed to raising both awareness and funds for this worthy cause, and I hope that through my efforts, I can make a real difference in the lives of young people in our borough."

Jonny Whitehead, CEO of Herts Young Homeless said "We are thrilled to be selected as the Mayor’s chosen charity this year. We very much appreciate the generosity of our community, which is immensely valued by those we help. The Mayor’s support will help us to continue to work with young people at risk of homelessness in the local area. We are committed to working closely with Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council to improve local provisions and prevent youth homelessness.”

Throughout the year, the Mayor will be organising various events and activities to raise money for Herts Young Homeless. He also welcomes donations from individuals and organisations who wish to support his charitable appeal through his Just Giving Page.
