A BIG Summer of fun is about to kick off across Welwyn Hatfield with events and activities for toddlers, teens and families.

There really is something for everyone from sports activities to dance classes and arts and crafts taking place as part of the council’s BIG Summer, which runs from 29 July – 18 August 2024.

Now in its eighth year, BIG Summer 2023 saw over 200 activities and more than 8,000 children take part over three weeks and this year is set to be bigger and better than ever with over 300 events to choose from.

Whether you’re looking for fun, adventure or to learn something new, some of the exciting activities taking place over the next few weeks include:

  • American Flag Football
  • Skateboarding with Tricktech
  • African Drumming with Hart Bass
  • Street Dance Masterclasses with FK Dance
  • SEN (Special Educational Needs) Football with JP Coaching

Many of the activities are free. View the BIG Summer event calendar at one.welhat.gov.uk/bigsummer

The Hatfield Community Fair will also be returning during BIG Summer on the Tuesday 13 August! The fair is a free, community outreach event with local businesses, charities and organisations taking part. Children’s activities will also be taking place such as face painting, a BMX track and a climbing wall plus entertainment from Electric Umbrella.

Councillor Jane Quinton, Deputy Leader of the Council and Executive Member for Leisure and Community, said:

“I am thrilled that we are running so many activities this summer for young people and families across the borough, with many of the events being free. It has been great to see BIG Summer grow over the last eight years with more events than ever before for older children and teens.  I would encourage everyone to check the Big Summer calendar and book your place for your favourite event or activity before it is booked out.”

Don’t miss this opportunity to join the fun and make some unforgettable memories. Keep an eye on our website at one.welhat.gov.uk/bigsummer and our social media channels.
