Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council’s Cabinet agreed at a Cabinet meeting on 3 September to create two new taskforces focussing on town centres and nicer neighbourhoods.

The Leader and Deputy Leader will lead the taskforces which will build on the Council’s existing vision and priorities and consider a number of new initiatives.

As part of the town centre task force, dedicated officer resource will be made available as well as the creation of a town centre strategy. The nicer neighbourhood task force will oversee the development of a nicer neighbourhood plan with project pilots in Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City.

Leader of the Council, Cllr Max Holloway said:

“We have listened to feedback from our community and the task forces represent the Joint Administration’s commitment to act on it. We will build on the good work and progress already achieved through the Council’s vision and priorities to ensure our town centres are vibrant, clean and welcoming, as well as improving our housing estates.”

Deputy Leader, Cllr Jane Quinton added:

“Our community remains at the heart of everything we do.  We want our town centres and neighbourhoods to flourish, and the task forces set up by the Joint Administration will ensure effective strategies are created and put into action.”
