Deputy Mayor opens new Brazilian Chocolate and Sweet Shop in Hatfield
Welwyn Hatfield Deputy Mayor, Councillor Lynn Chesterman OBE, today (27 September) officially opened Emmy’s Brigadeiro Artisan Chocolate Shop on The Broadway in Old Hatfield.
Brigadeiro is a delicious, luscious, handcrafted Brazilian treat. Quality ingredients are slow cooked and then hand rolled into bite sized balls of chocolate indulgence, nutty delights and fruit sensations.
Local entrepreneur, Emmy Rocha, launched Emmy’s Brigadeiro in May 2016 from her passion and love for Brigadeiro, Brazil’s favourite sweet. As well as the new shop, Emmy also caters for corporate events and weddings.
Emmy has run a workshop at Mill Green Museum for the Youth Council and she also regularly attends the Council’s Meet Your Business Neighbours Networking events. These are networking events run by the Borough on a quarterly basis at various locations across the Borough. It was at the last networking event that Emmy informed the Council that she was opening up premises in Old Hatfield and we are delighted to be able to support her in the next step of her business journey. The next Meet Your Business Neighbours event is on Thursday 5 December, further information will be published on the Council’s website.
Councillor James Broach, Executive Member Resources said: “The opening of Emmy’s Brigadeiro Shop is not just a business launch, it is a moment of inspiration and a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit that thrives in our community. Today’s opening of Emmy’s Brigadeiro Shop brings something unique to our town. The Brigadeiro is a symbol of tradition, joy, and togetherness. It’s fitting that Hatfield, known for its diversity and vibrant community, is now home to a place that will offer not only delicious treats but also a piece of Brazilian culture. I want to offer my sincere congratulations to Emmy and well wishes for the future. I would encourage everyone to visit Emmy’s shop and sample these Brazilian delights.”
Emmy said: “At the same time that I fell in love with my Brazilian husband, I also fell in love with the Brigadeiro. When he introduced me to his group of friends who were mainly Brazilians, I had the opportunity to see that they love partying. One thing came to my attention quickly. There was no party without Brigadeiros. Soon I became a huge fan of them. It is my mission to introduce this sweet little delicacy to everyone I meet. If you love chocolate and enjoy sweet moments, then you will fall in love with Brigadeiros too!"
More information on Emmy and her Brigadeiros can be found on the Emmy Brigadeiro website.
