Views sought on new Tree and Woodland Strategy for Welwyn Hatfield

Autumnal trees on digswell road

WHBC is developing a Tree and Woodland Strategy which sets out the Council’s vision for a greener, healthier future for the Borough, focusing on on the long-term management and conservation of trees.

The Council is seeking the views of local residents and businesses on the new Strategy which covers the period from now to 2029.

Respondents are asked to read the new Strategy before completing the survey which will be live until Monday 30 December.

The Tree and Woodland Strategy aims to protect vital green spaces, boost biodiversity and address climate challenges by implementing policies for active tree management, urban greening, sustainable planting, and habitat preservation. The survey is an opportunity for local people and businesses to review the strategy and provide feedback on policies that will impact local parks, natural spaces and tree-lined streets.

WHBC Executive Member for Environment, Councillor Sandreni Bonfante said: “Action on climate change is a key priority for the Council.  The sustainable management of our trees and woodlands will be essential if together we are going to enhance our green spaces and make a lasting impact on our environment and community’s well-being.  I encourage as many people as possible to review the Tree and Woodland Strategy and share their thoughts through the survey.”
