Last Chance to Have Your Say on North West Hatfield Development and Sustainability Plans

Have your say

The deadline to take part in two major planning consultations is fast approaching.

Residents, businesses, and developers have until Friday 20 December 2024 to share their views on key proposals shaping the future of North West Hatfield and sustainability standards across the borough.

As part of the implementation of the Local Plan, Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council (WHBC) is inviting feedback on two Draft Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs). These documents will provide detailed guidance to support Local Plan policies and influence new development across the borough. The North West Hatfield SPD outlines plans for 1,750 new homes, schools, green spaces, and other vital infrastructure in the area. The Sustainability SPD proposes ambitious environmental standards for future developments, focusing on sustainable design, climate resilience, and active travel.

Input from the community is encouraged to help ensure these documents reflect the needs and priorities of the local community. The results will be reviewed and considered before the documents are finalised and presented to Council for formal adoption.

Councillor Rose Grewal, Executive Member for Planning, said:

“These SPD’s mark a milestone in progressing policy on sustainable development across the Borough and shaping the North West Hatfield development, which offers an opportunity to create a well-connected, high-quality community on this key site.  I would encourage as many people as possible to have their say and take part in the consultations before the deadline.”
