Council launches new online chatbot

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council has launched WelChat, a new online chatbot designed to help customers easily find information on the council’s website.

Available 24/7, WelChat can be accessed from any page on the council website. Customers can simply click on the WelChat icon on the page, type in their query and they will receive real-time assistance.

Customers can use WelChat to ask about a wide range of services, including information about waste collection, how to pay council tax, how to apply for a parking permit and much more. It also features helpful hint cards for frequently asked questions.

Cllr Jane Quinton, Executive Member for Community & Cultural Services, said:

“We’re excited to introduce WelChat to make our services more accessible to our residents which is a key priority. Through WelChat, customers can receive quick answers in real time to their queries at any time of day and be pointed to the right information. They can also go on to connect to the customer service team during working hours if they wish to.”
