What’s happening this half term in Welwyn Hatfield

Children with xplorer maps

Welwyn Hatfield has a whole host of fun activities for all the family this half term.

Campus West

The well-loved leisure facility in Welwyn Garden City will be playing host to a fine selection of films for children, some of which are part of the Films for a Fiver series, including the latest Snow White adaption from Disney, the new Bluey film and A Minecraft Movie! For the slightly older children there’s the new Lilo & Stitch film.

Over at RollerCity, there are special Holiday Roller Skate sessions throughout the week, with a morning (11am-12.30pm) or afternoon session (1-2.30pm) for a safer skating experience. You can use your Zebra discount card to get reductions on skate and non-skate entry tickets, too!

Why not also round off a visit to Campus West with a bite to eat in the comfortable surroundings of Humphrey’s Café, where you can purchase delicious snacks, drinks and meals (The Zebra discount card can also be used here).

The popular Xplorer sessions will also be on at the playing fields! Take part in the fun orienteering game with the whole family - try and spot all the hidden markers around the park and answer all the questions to complete the challenge! Xplorer is on between 11am and 2pm.

The activity day is free (although some pursuits may be chargeable) - just turn up!

Mill Green Museum

The Mini Millers is an under 5s stay and play activity with some hands-on play themed around milling, baking and rivers!

The Hive

Bring your little ones to the popular Freddie's Den soft play experience at The Hive in South Hatfield. There are two areas, for toddlers aged 0-2 and slightly older children up to the age of 8 - and don’t forget, if you have a child’s birthday coming up, why not book a Freddie’s Den party!

Booking in advance is essential and costs £4.50 per child, per day. Email sales@thehivehatfield.co.uk or call 01707 27066.

Leisure Centres

Our leisure centres have a host of exciting activities to keep the family entertained throughout half term. Make a splash at Hatfield Swim Centre with the school holiday Family Fun Swim and Aqua Splash inflatable sessions. There’ll also be crash course swimming lessons, diving practice and regular junior gym sessions.

Hatfield Leisure Centre has a range of sports sessions to try out, including drop-in football, badminton, and table tennis and squash. The Inflatable Zone obstacle course and Toddlers World, a new bouncy castle and soft-play area, will keep the little ones entertained. Meanwhile, Stanborough Park Water Sports Centre is hosting fun activities for outdoor adventurers, including Go Paddle sessions for adults and children looking to hone their paddle boarding or kayaking skills.

Visit the web pages for full details of the events and to book.

Deputy Leader of the Council and Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Jane Quinton, said:

We hope that families and young people will agree that there is something on for everyone in Welwyn Hatfield this May half term! The events should also suit all weathers too, so get these events in your diary!
