Can your organisation participate in BIG Summer?

Big summer 2025

If you would like to offer activities as part of the upcoming BIG Summer campaign in Welwyn Hatfield, Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council would like to hear from you!

The council is welcoming groups, organisations and charities who can offer sessions and immersive experiences involving arts, culture, sports and fitness, music and entertainment, or community for BIG Summer, which runs from 28 July until 17 August.

Now in its ninth year, BIG Summer has built up a reputation for offering a hugely diverse range of activities and events for children and young people. In 2024 there were over 450 events to choose from, and this year promises to be no exception, with a Climbing Wall, SEND football, skateboarding, kayaking and African drumming - among other events - already planned!

The council is keen to work in partnership with a wide range of local organisations to continue delivering an exciting, inclusive and varied programme. If you are a sports club, leisure facility, charity, school or community organisation and would like your summer events or activities to be part of BIG Summer, fill out the council’s quick and easy online form at https://www.welhat.gov.uk/xfp/form/207

The closing date for partners to submit activities for BIG Summer is Sunday 20 July.

Cllr Jane Quinton, Deputy Leader and Executive Member, Leisure and Community, said:

“BIG Summer gets bigger and better every year, and we’re excited to be collaborating with community groups once again.

“Our community is at the heart of everything we do, and this programme is all about creating opportunities for children and young people to try something new, and for local organisations to reach more families across the borough. Whether you're a returning partner or taking part for the first time, we’d love to hear from you.”

Please keep an eye on the council website at one.welhat.gov.uk/bigsummer to find out about new activities as soon as they are added to the event calendar.
