WHBC has officially opened a new children's playground at High View in Hatfield, providing a safe, fun, and inclusive space for children to enjoy in the heart of the High View community.

The new play area, developed in partnership with Lovell Homes, features a variety of equipment including mixed swings with sharing seats, a climbing frame with a net, and a rocker bird - offering children a fun space to play, learn, and explore.

The playground, which is located in the centre of High View, is designed not only as a space for play but also as a focal point for families and community members to meet, with seating and benches that offer a space to socialise and relax.

Welwyn Hatfield’s Mayor, Cllr Lynn Chesterman OBE, officially cut the ribbon to open the new play area at High View, celebrating the latest phase of the area’s ongoing transformation. She was joined by Deputy Leader of the Council and Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Jane Quinton; Executive Member for Environment, Cllr Sandreni Bonfante; Cabinet members; the council’s Chief Executive, Ka Ng; and council staff.

The playground is part of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council’s £45 million regeneration of High View, which has delivered new homes – including 37 affordable units – revitalised public spaces, and a modern retail parade with local businesses.

Cllr Sandreni Bonfante, Executive Member Environment, said:

“The new playground is a wonderful addition to the High View development and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to putting our community at the heart of everything we do. The new playground is a great example of how the regeneration of Hatfield is delivering inclusive, welcoming spaces that will help improve wellbeing. I am sure that local families will enjoy the playground for many years to come."
