Hatfield Town Centre is set to inspire the next generation of scientists on Saturday 12 July, as the free Science Dome and hands-on workshops arrive in White Lion Square.

Running from 10.30am to 3.30pm, this family-friendly, free event promises an exciting day of live performers, mind-blowing experiments and interactive learning.

The main highlight of the event is the Science Dome, an immersive, educational experience designed to explore science, astronomy, geology and geography in an interactive way. Children can step inside the Dome for a 25-minute show, taking them on a journey through the solar system with high quality visuals, multimedia and sound. Shows will run every 30 minutes, beginning at 10.30am and continuing throughout the day until 3.30pm, with a short lunch break at 12.00pm. Each show has limited capacity, and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

In addition to the Dome, children can take part in fun workshops running throughout the day, including a planet masterclass full of fun facts and a chance to design your own solar system. Each workshop is suitable for up to 30 children and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Families can also get creative with Solar Arts & Crafts inside Hatfield Library from 12pm to 1.30pm. Spaces are limited, and tickets can be booked directly through the library.

Councillor Max Holloway, Leader of the Council and Executive Member, Economic Development and Climate Change, said:

We’re thrilled to bring this exciting science event to Hatfield Town Centre. It’s a brilliant way to inspire young minds, make learning fun and bring families together for a day out. Supporting our vibrant town centres is a key priority for the council and events like this not only create memorable experiences for residents and visitors alike but also boost footfall and provide valuable support to local businesses. Keep an eye on our calendar for more events taking place this year!

The event will be running alongside the popular Hatfield market and visitors can take advantage of up to 3 hours free parking in the town centre’s The Common multi-storey car park.

This event is part of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council’s summer events programme, funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), a government initiative supporting town centre investment and local businesses.
