New Defibrillator Installed at Minster House

Residents at Minster House Independent Living Scheme in Hatfield now have access to a life-saving defibrillator, thanks to a partnership between WHBC and their planned works contractor, Equans.
As part of Equans' commitment to social value and giving something back to the local community, the contractor supplied, paid for and installed the defibrillator. Accessible 24/7, the new defibrillator is fitted externally and has been registered on ‘The Circuit’, the national defibrillator network used by emergency services. This means that the new defibrillator will provide critical support to Minster House residents as well as the wider public in the event of a cardiac emergency.
The emergency device provides automated, easy-to-follow instructions, and residents of Minster House will be signposted to online training resources to increase awareness and confidence in using the equipment.
Early feedback from residents has been overwhelmingly positive, with many commenting on the benefit of having quick access to this vital piece of equipment.
Councillor Gemma Moore, Executive Member for Housing, said:
As a Council, our vision is to put the community at our heart and, working in partnership with Equans, the installation of this new defibrillator is one small example of how we are doing that. I would like to thank Equans for agreeing to supply and fit the defibrillator and for the other work they do to support residents in Welwyn Hatfield as part of their social value activities.
Karen Field, Social Value Manager at Equans, said:
When Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council asked us to supply and install a defibrillator at Minster House, we were proud to support the request. This initiative highlights the importance of accessible life-saving equipment and reflects our commitment to delivering long-term social value in the communities we serve. Through our IMPACT manifesto and social value framework, we’re focused on supporting local resilience and making a meaningful difference where we operate.
