Have Your Say: Welwyn Neighbourhood Plan Consultation Now Open

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is inviting residents, businesses and local organisations to have their say on the Welwyn Neighbourhood Plan, as part of the next stage of public consultation.
The Neighbourhood Plan, developed by Welwyn Parish Council and the local community, sets out a shared vision for the future of Welwyn Parish. It covers a wide range of planning issues including housing, green spaces, design, heritage, and infrastructure – all shaped by local priorities.
Councillor Rose Grewal, Executive Member for Planning, said:
“Neighbourhood Plans give communities real influence over how their area grows and develops. This consultation is an important opportunity for residents to help refine a document that reflects their aspirations for Welwyn’s future.”
The consultation will run from 21 July 2025 to 1 September 2025, during which time residents are encouraged to review the plan and submit their comments.
Once the consultation closes, an independent examiner will review all feedback. The Neighbourhood Plan will then progress to the next stage, which includes an independent examination. Following this, a local referendum will be held to decide whether to "make" the Neighbourhood Plan. If it is made, it will become part of the Development Plan for the borough, meaning its policies will be used to help guide decisions on planning applications within the area that it covers.
