New police info hub opens at council offices

New police information hub

A new hub for residents wanting police support and advice is opening at Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council’s Campus East Office.

The information hub opens on Wednesday (6 August) and will give residents the chance to speak face to face with a police officer.

An officer from the Neighbourhood Policing Team will be there for an hour every day from Monday to Friday. The current opening times are:

  • Monday: 10am-11am
  • Tuesday: 2pm-3pm
  • Wednesday: 10am-11am
  • Thursday: 2pm-3pm
  • Friday: 10am-11am

The hub will temporarily close in October as officers will be around the corner in Howardsgate when the Knife Angel visits the town. The national monument, created from confiscated knives, raises awareness of violence and there will be a month long programme of activities planned in the area. There will be a police stall for residents to visit everyday from 8am to 10pm, including weekends.

Welwyn Hatfield Chief Inspector Pete Frost said: “We are pleased to announce the opening of our police information hub at the council office. The location has been specifically chosen as it means residents requiring help from the council can do this at the same time. We work very closely with Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council and sharing office space will no doubt help us to solve issues together faster and give you the support and help you need.

“I encourage all residents to make use of this facility as we want to do our best to help. We look forward to welcoming you.”

Councillor Sandreni Bonfante, Executive Member for Environment at Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, said:

“I am really pleased that we’ve been able to work with the police to open this information hub in a convenient, town-centre location.

“We are committed to helping our communities feel safer and making services accessible. This new hub will allow residents to speak directly to police and council officers so that we can respond to their queries and concerns quickly and effectively.

“If there is anything you would like to discuss with us, please drop into the hub and our friendly teams will be on hand to help.”

The hub is on the ground floor of the council’s Campus East offices at The Campus, Welwyn Garden City, AL8 6AE.

Opening times for the hub will change from time to time due to operational demand. The latest opening times can always be found by searching ‘Welwyn Garden City’ on the Herts Police website at herts.police.uk/contact/find-a-police-station
