Welwyn Hatfield Blossoms at the Anglia in Bloom Awards

Welwyn Hatfield has once again flourished at the prestigious Anglia in Bloom Awards, held on Thursday (4 September), with local green spaces and community efforts receiving well-deserved recognition.
Danesbury Park was awarded Gold in the Historic Parks and Gardens category and Welwyn Garden City BID took home the overall Category Winner title plus the Silver Gilt in the Business Improvement District (BID) category.
The borough showcased its floral beauty for the Anglia in Bloom judges, when they toured the town centre in July visiting key locations including the Anniversary Garden, Centenary Woodland Garden, Howardsgate, and Danesbury Nature Reserve. The entries were judged on criteria such as plant choice, maintenance, environmental responsibility and community participation.
Councillor Sandreni Bonfante, Executive Member, Environment, said:
“I’m delighted that we have once again won top awards in the Anglia in Bloom competition! It’s wonderful to see all the hard work maintaining our green spaces paying off – work that involves collaboration between our fantastic volunteers, community groups, contractors, the Welwyn Garden City BID team and council officers. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for their continued dedication and hard work which has enabled us to consistently achieve recognition in these awards for the past seven years, showcasing our borough a welcoming place for everyone to live in, work in and visit.”
