Council welcomes popular local business to its first bricks-and-mortar café

Mayor visits Hall Grove Cafe

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council has welcomed popular local business Dom’s Snacks to its first bricks-and-mortar café in Welwyn Garden City.

Hall Grove Café proudly opened its doors in a council-owned unit at 20 Hall Grove on Tuesday 14 October - 19 years after Dom’s Snack Vans first began serving residents of the town.

The Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, Councillor Lynn Chesterman OBE, was one of the café’s first customers as she enjoyed a bacon sandwich and coffee and was shown around the new premises. Dom’s hopes the new site will be not just a café but an important space for people to come together and spend quality time with family and friends.

Always aiming to offer more than just a quick bite to eat, Dom’s has built lasting relationships with its regulars through its great service and commitment to the highest standards, including maintaining a 5-star hygiene rating every year. The business sources many ingredients locally and employs ten staff from the local area.

Owner Dominic Lawrence said:

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be opening our first bricks-and-mortar café in our hometown and look forward to welcoming customers old and new. A huge thank you to the local community and the council for your ongoing support, which has helped to make this possible!”

Councillor Max Holloway, Leader of the Council and Executive Member for Economic Development and Climate Change, said:

“We are delighted to have been able to support Dom’s in their ambition to open Hall Grove Café in Welwyn Garden City. This much-loved local firm has been serving the borough’s residents for 19 years, offering delicious food and drink prepared to the highest standards.

“Local businesses are not only important for our economy, they also help to bring communities together. As a council, we will continue to champion them and the vital role they play in ensuring our towns remain vibrant and welcoming destinations.”
