Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council joins National Parking Platform
Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is now part of the National Parking Platform (NPP), giving motorists greater choice over how they pay for parking in the council’s car parks.
The NPP is designed to make parking smarter by bringing together a range of approved parking providers and removing the need to download additional apps. Joining the NPP platform extends the selection of parking apps motorists can use, which creates a more consistent and user-friendly experience for residents and visitors.
Drivers can now use their preferred parking app to access parking information, pay for parking on the go, and manage their parking conveniently via mobile. The benefits include easier payments, clearer instructions, and better access to parking information. As of today, Apcoa, AppyWay, Caura, Just Park, and RingGo are available as additional cashless payment options alongside PayByPhone.
Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council has gone live on the platform together with East Herts and Stevenage councils, demonstrating a shared, forward-thinking commitment to improving the parking service through open, interoperable technology that supports innovation and future growth.
Councillor Sandreni Bonfante, Cabinet Member for Environment, said:
“I’m really pleased we have joined the NPP to deliver a better local parking service for residents and visitors to our borough, helping us to support our town centres and local businesses. This platform cuts out the confusion and frustration of having to download multiple apps, making the experience simple, seamless, and consistent. Drivers won’t need to download anything new – they can simply enter the location code as normal in their preferred app.”
Sarah Randall, National Parking Platform Chief Executive, said:
“Welcoming Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council to the NPP is an important milestone. Their coordinated approach shows real leadership and demonstrates how local authorities can work together to deliver more open, consistent and driver-focused parking services. We’re delighted to be supporting them as part of the growing NPP community.”
