Garden Waste Subscription Fees Unchanged for 2026–27
Subscriptions to the 2026–27 garden waste collection service have reopened, and that the annual subscription fee will remain the same as last year, with no increase.
The cost for 2026–27 remains the same: £60 for the first brown bin and £93 for a second biThe optional garden waste collection service runs from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027, with fortnightly collections throughout the year. All collected garden waste is sent to a local composting facility, helping the council increase recycling rates, reduce disposal costs, and produce high-quality compost for use in agriculture and horticulture.
Residents already signed up to the service do not need to re-register, payment will be taken automatically in March on their previously selected date, and they will also receive a letter or email with a unique Customer Account Number. Anyone who has not received this by 23 March should contact the council on 01707 357000.
To sign up to the garden waste collection service and for more information, visit the Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council website.
Councillor Sandreni Bonfante, Deputy Leader of the Council and Executive Member for Environment said:
I am pleased that we have been able to keep the garden waste subscription fee for 2026-27 the same as last year. The garden waste collection service makes it easy for residents to recycle their garden waste responsibly and supports all our efforts to help protect the environment and reduce landfill. Thank you to everyone that has signed up for the service. Anyone who hasn’t signed up yet, I would encourage you to do so through the Council’s website.
