Hatfield Town Centre Events Return this Spring and Summer
Hatfield Town Centre is kicking off a season of Spring and Summer family-friendly events, adding extra excitement, alongside the regular markets.
Organised by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council and part funded by the Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), the programme of events will once again offer great entertainment, strengthening community connections, and supporting local businesses.
The first event of the year, the Holi Festival of Colours, takes place this weekend on Saturday 7 March in Market Place from 11am - 4pm in partnership with Rosemary Bookkeeping. Attendees can enjoy live music, a variety of food stalls, and a colourful Holi celebration inspired by the traditional Indian Festival of Colours. Visitors can also join in the fun by throwing brightly coloured powder for just £1 per cup, dance along to the music, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere.
A series of themed events have been organised throughout spring and summer, including:
- The Spring Fair on Saturday 21 March
- Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday 4 April
- Romanian Spring Festival on Saturday 18 April
- May Day on Saturday 2 May
- Circus Skills on Saturday 6 June
- Get Active, Be Healthy on Saturday 4 July
- May the FUN Be With You on Saturday 18 July
- Summer Fun on Saturday 1 August
The events will take place in the White Lion Square between 10am – 3pm and will have fun activities for kids with live music, entertainment and food stalls for all the family to enjoy. Whether you’re looking for a fun day out, a chance to try something new, or just want to soak up the bustling atmosphere, there’s something for everyone! More details for each event can be found on the council’s website.
Hatfield’s regular markets also continue to play a key role in attracting visitors to the town centre. The General Market held every Wednesday and Saturday, and the Farmers Market on the first Saturday of each month, bring a wide range of local traders to the heart of Hatfield. Visitors can enjoy everything from fresh produce and artisan goods to unique crafts, making them the perfect complement to this year’s seasonal events.
Councillor Astrid Scott, Executive Member for Finance said:
I am delighted that Hatfield Town Centre’s events are returning for another year. Each event brings fun and excitement to Hatfield and are an opportunity for families to come together, while also boosting footfall and supporting our brilliant markets and local businesses. These activities really do showcase the community spirit that makes Hatfield such a vibrant place to live and visit.
