Half term adventures in Welwyn Hatfield!

Get ready for a fantastic May half-term with lots of exciting activities happening across Welwyn Hatfield!

Activity Day at King George V Playing Fields

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council has organised a fun-filled Activity Day on Wednesday 27 May at King George V Playing Fields between11am-3pm, packed with free entertainment for all ages.

Little ones can enjoy face-painting (queue closes at 2pm), while live storytelling will bring their imaginations to life throughout the afternoon. Adventurers can take on the climbing wall and those looking to get active can join in the SEND football sessions or golf activities. All activities are free. Plus, the Healthy Hub pop-up clinic will be on hand with friendly advice and wellbeing support for adults.

Campus West

This half term, families can dive into the magic of live theatre with two brilliant children’s shows taking centre stage. On Thursday 28 May, Utterly Revolting Science brings explosive experiments and mind-boggling facts to life in an irresistibly fun and chaotic adventure, perfect for curious young minds. Performances take place at 11:30am and 3:00pm. For younger audiences, The Three Billy Goats Gruff offers a charming, music-filled retelling of the classic tale, complete with lovable characters and plenty of giggles. Performances take place on Friday 29 May at 11:30am and 2:00pm.

For those looking to burn off some energy, RollerCity will be open daily, offering 90-minute skating sessions at 12pm and 2pm. It’s the perfect chance for children (and adults!) to try something new.

The cinema has a fantastic lineup of family films. Star Wars fans can look forward to the big-screen adventure of The Mandalorian & Grogu, bringing plenty of galactic fun to half term. A selection of family-friendly films including Hit Pig will also be showing throughout the week, offering something for every age - ideal for relaxed afternoons.

Mill Green Museum and Mill

Over half term, Mill Green Museum and Watermill will be open on Monday 25 May, Tuesday 26 May, Friday 29 May and Sunday 31 May from 10am-4pm, offering families the chance to enjoy a day of wildlife themed fun included with entry to the Museum and Watermill. Visitors can explore the historic site while taking part in crafts inspired by nature, before rounding off their visit with delicious treats from Miller’s Tea Room, made using flour milled on site, just as it has been for 1000 years.

Welwyn Roman Baths

The Welwyn Roman Baths will be open on Wednesday 27 May, Thursday 28 May and Saturday30 May  from 10am-4pm, inviting families to step back in time with a day of Roman-themed crafts included with the admission fee. Visitors can get hands-on with creative activities inspired by Roman life, making it a fun and engaging experience for all ages during the school holidays!

Stanborough Park

Splashlands in Stanborough Park North is the perfect place for children to cool off and burn off some energy. The popular water play area features exciting splash jets, a paddling river and a nautical-themed adventure playground with a giant pirate ship, promising hours of fun for children of all ages.
