Free local events for Great Big Green Week 2026!
Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is proud to be taking part again in Great Big Green Week 2026 - the UK’s largest celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.
Taking place between 6 and 14 June, this year’s theme, ‘Together for Good’, focuses on the collective effort to effect change. Community action builds relationships that can influence decision makers.
This marks the third consecutive year that the Council has supported the campaign, bringing together local organisations, community groups and residents to deliver a diverse programme of events and talks across the borough.
The week will feature a range of free, family-friendly activities designed to inspire residents to get involved in local sustainability initiatives. From practical tips for greener living to opportunities to connect with local environmental groups, the events will showcase simple ways everyone can make a difference.

“I am delighted that we are supporting Great Big Green Week once again and offering a wide range of free, family-friendly events that make it easy for residents to get involved in climate action. This year’s theme highlights the power of sharing and community, and I encourage everyone to come along, learn something new, and take part in building a greener, more sustainable Welwyn Hatfield.”
The council’s continued involvement in Great Big Green Week reflects its commitment to help tackle the climate emergency by achieving net zero carbon emissions as an organisation by 2030, and across the borough by 2050.
