New heritage and art trail launched in Welwyn Garden City

Residents and visitors are invited to explore Welwyn Garden City town centre in a new and exciting way, with the launch of a free, self-guided heritage and public art trail.

Developed by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, the trail celebrates the town’s rich history and vibrant public art, while encouraging people to spend time outdoors and discover more about their local area. The trail is available both as an interactive online map and a printed guide. A separate child-friendly map is also available, offering a fun and engaging way for younger explorers to discover the trail.

Starting at Campus West, the walking route takes participants on a curated journey through Welwyn Garden City town centre, showcasing key heritage landmarks, lesser-known hidden gems and a variety of public art installations along the way. Designed to be flexible and accessible, the trail can be enjoyed at a pace that suits individuals, families and groups alike.

Printed copies are available from locations across Welwyn Garden City town centre, including:

  • The council’s Campus East Reception
  • Campus West in WGC
  • The WGC Library
  • Waterstones in WGC
  • The Works in WGC
  • The Post Office/Londis in WGC
  • Card Factory in the Howard Centre
  • The WGC Business Improvement District
  • The Cake Box stand in the Howard Centre.
