Oak Hill Lawn Cemetery and Crematorium Awarded Gold for Bereavement Services

Bereavement team awarded gold standard

Oak Hill Lawn Cemetery and Crematorium in Hatfield has been formally recognised for excellence in bereavement services by the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (ICCM).

Oak Hill, which is owned and managed by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, has achieved Gold Standard status for both its cemetery and crematorium services. The council's cemetery service has improved from Silver to Gold Standard accreditation, while the crematorium has successfully retained its Gold Standard status.

The ICCM is the UK’s leading professional body for burial and cremation authorities, providing policy guidance, best practice standards, and accredited training to enhance the quality of bereavement services nationwide.

The awards are based on a thorough self-assessment process that is externally verified by the ICCM. The ICCM’s evaluation examines over 500 operational and service-related criteria to benchmark performance against national best practices.

Councillor Max Holloway, Executive Member Community and Leisure, said:

"At Oak Hill, we offer a range of service options to accommodate different faiths, personal preferences and budgets, ensuring every family can honour their loved one in a way that feels right for them. We are proud to support our community with care, dignity and compassion during some of life's most difficult moments.

These awards are a reflection of that commitment and recognise the dedication, compassion and professionalism of the entire Oak Hill team, who go above and beyond to provide exceptional care and support to families when they need it most."
